The Tuesday men's competition was changed to a Medley format (Men & Women) in 2017 but has continued the tradition of its founders in that it remains an early morning (hence 'Dewsweepers'), relatively quick game of golf. However, it is no longer a 'race' around the golf course; rather, it is the three-tee start which assists to compact playing groups as they conclude play. As a guide, the field usually comprises 40 - 60 players and the announcement of results can be expected between 12:00PM / 1:00PM.
The Co-ordinator of the Tuesday Dewsweeper's competition is Bob Henley who took over from Alan Potts. Bob's contact details can be found in the 'Member's Directory' after logging in to the NAGC website.
History of the Dewsweepers Competition
Mike Burridge was appointed in July 1988. The Tuesday competition existed for many years prior to 1988 with Fred Gurr and Bernie Brady in charge, however comprehensive records of player numbers and prize winners commenced with Mike’s appointment. As a consequence, we know that 11 players teed-off on the first week of Mike's leadership, the average number of players in 1992 was 24; in 1996, 28 players; in 2006, 44 players. In 2009, 61 players were in the competition on one occasion.
For those interested, here are some of the names from 1988;
Jack Baumgurtel, Ron (Bluey) Blake, Bernie Brady, Bill Britton, Gerald Bromley, Alex Buchanan, Mike Burridge, Merv Chesson, Benno Eggert, Ron Girdham, George Graham, Fred Gurr, Reg Harrison, Ross Hill, Ken Hoare, Jock Hutton, Cliff Jacobi, Frank Lewis, Max Mattner, Ken Morcom, Morrie Morgan, Morrie Murphy, Bill Nicks, Max Niemaber, Tom Norman, Richard Payne, Ross Pretty, Jim Pringle, Jack Richards, Earl Rohrig, Jack Ryan, Max Seirch, Ron Simpson, Jack Scriven, Alan Sykes, Anthony Tucker, Jack Weekley, Ivan Wildy and Joe Wolf.
From API Golf Club; Bert Godson, Lou Jenkins, Tom McCalden and Arthur Wade.
There have been numerous changes to the playing conditions over the years. For many years, the Tuesday Dewsweepers was an unofficial not-for-handicap competition using the ‘Yellow Tees’. Players happily conceded ‘gimme putts’ as well as some other rule modifications to keep players moving. The Tuesday Dewsweeper competition became an official Club event in April 1997. Players now use the ‘Blue Tees’ with all Rules of Golf applied. Scorecards are submitted for handicap.

HISTORY
Men's Thursday Dewsweeper golf commenced in the 1980's when Club members and their guests instigated a practice round of golf which included some 'novelty' awards for the participants; winners were announced to players who gathered near the the 18th green. The fixture was immediately popular. Numbers increased and later, the players sought Club recognition for the competition. The Thursday competition arrangements continued to evolve - post-game player camaraderie and formalities for the more extensive range of competitions now occur in the comfort of the Clubroom where refreshments are also available. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
