Inter-Club Competitions
MEN’S PENNANT TEAMS
General Information about NAGC Pennant Teams
Competition
Golf SA is responsible for the program of inter-club competitions which include Simpson Cup ('A' Pennant) and 'B' Pennant tournaments. These competitions are Match Play events between teams of seven players from most golf clubs in Adelaide and are played on the golf courses of participating clubs. Each season, teams elevated to a higher grade or relegated according to the results.
North Adelaide Golf Club has a proud history in Simpson Cup and 'B' Pennant competitions. These are prestigious events for golf clubs. NAGC's best players seek to represent the Club, strive for its success and test themselves against players from other clubs.
The Match Committee selects the team based on ability, performance and team balance.
Pennant Uniform
Team members are supplied with a shirt (red with white trim with the NAGC logo) and wear black or navy long pants. Caddies are asked to wear a NAGC logo'd shirt. All clubs require players and caddies to wear soft spiked shoes.
Practice Rounds
Team members are encouraged to organise practice rounds, particularly if the schedule includes an unfamiliar golf course. Please ring the Pro-Shop at the golf course and note that 'visitor' green fees will need to be paid.
Match Day
Team members and caddies are expected to arrive at the golf course 45 minutes before the first match tee off time. Please arrive earlier if additional warm-up or practice is required. Team members are reminded that sufficient time on the practice putting green is essential.
There is usually a small band of loyal Club members who will attend and support during play. Team members should acknowledge them when possible.
As matches conclude, players are expected to join the other Club members in support of team members still on the course. Team spirit is a traditional strength of NAGC Pennant teams.
Post Match
The Host Club will provide a meal for the team members, caddies and officials from each team together with a beverage or drink voucher.
