Alice Cho Smashes Women's Course Record

NAGC’s women’s champion, Alice Cho set a new women’s record score for her home course during competition on Saturday 6 May.

The previous record (3-over par 76) had stood for nearly 20 years… set by Sarah Barlow on 16 October 2003, until Alice broke the record by 4 strokes.

Ignoring the prevailing wind, rain and cold, 14-year-old Alice blazed round the course carding a 1 under par 72 off the stick… featuring a magnificent 6 birdies (holes 2,3,7,9,15 & 17) offset by 5 bogeys, understandable given the conditions.

This being a stroke round for the Monthly Medal meant that Alice’s score would be recognised as the new Women’s Course Record at the North Adelaide Golf Course and Club. It’s worth noting that on Thursday 20 April, Alice shot a 4 under par 69 to win the day’s stableford competition with 43 points off a handicap of 3. Regrettably not being a stroke round, the score could not be officially recognised.

Since that round, Alice has shaved two more strokes off her handicap and on this day played off 1!

Fittingly Alice also won the Monthly Medal for May by two strokes.
