2023 Serafino Open
2023 Serafino Open – Saturday 5 November 2023
North Adelaide’s club champions are also its open champions after the second Serafino Open.
A field of 167 took to the South Course in superb weather in two shotgun starts across the day to decide the open championship of the North Adelaide Golf Club.
Fresh from his dramatic 2&1 win last Sunday, Shaun Dawson led the men’s field home shooting 74 off the stick, one stroke ahead of Henry Park.
On handicap across the men’s grades, Henry Park (hcp 5) won the Mens A with a nett 70; B-grade was won by Damien Nicholls (hcp 17) with a nett 74, and C-grade went to Sham Sharma (hcp 24) with a nett 66, following from his C-grade championship win the previous Sunday.
In the women’s field, Alice Cho (hcp 1) was every bit as dominant in this event as she was in matchplay less than a week earlier. Alice matched her official course record set on 6 May, shooting another one under par 72 off the stick. She finished fourteen shots ahead of her nearest rival, Young Mi Ko (hcp 12).
On handicap, Alice reigned supreme as well with a nett 71. Hannah Tayler (hcp 27) took B-grade honours with a nett 73.
Alice’s 72 by the way, was the best score of all 167 entrants.
We welcomed players from Tea Tree Gully and Glenelg Golf Clubs; our fellow North Adelaide course clubs: Shell, API and the Oaks; and social clubs, Sikh and SA Italian.
Most notable in the field however was our principal sponsor, Steve Maglieri, founder of Serafino Wines.
We thank him for his generous support.
Thanks also to the organising committee and the many volunteers who contributed their efforts, from the car park to the registration desk to the barbecue and everywhere in between, to make the day as good as it was.
