2024 Bonnar Cup
North Adelaide Golf Club Golf Australia Pennants – Season Finale Round 7
With the author not being in attendance this week there is no weather report for this round.
The NAGC Bonnar Cup team took on Kooyonga at Royal Adelaide, enough said sadly.
The line-up for this round was Oscar Moss, Barry Smith, John Filmalter, Andrew McMillan, Steve Draper, Frank Kong and Yung Bok Kim.
This proved to be a tough battle for our boys and whilst they gave it their best wend down 0 and 7.
A big thank you to all the players that have represented the club this season, we went in to battle with the best intentions but unfortunately fell short against some formidable opposition, better luck next season.
We have a break now and reset because before we know it we will be ramping up for the next season which is scheduled to start in February 2025.
North Adelaide Golf Club Golf Australia Pennants - Round 6
The NAGC Bonnar Cup group assembled at Kooyonga and took on the Royal Adelaide gang.
The line-up for this round was Oscar Moss, Toby Maddern, John Filmalter, Luke Montgomery, Steve Draper, Frank Kong and Yung Bok Kim.
Our boys battled hard against the opposition but in the end it proved to be a bridge too far and we went down ½ to 6 ½.
Again, thanks to our members who toiled away in the red shirts for our club, even though the results have not what we wanted this season we will take steps to try and rectify that for the next year.
Special mention to Steve Draper who filled in on the Bonnar Cup, many thanks Steve.
For the final time this season the Bonnar Cup team will take on 3rd placed Kooyonga at Royal Adelaide,
Best of luck for this the final round guys and as always any support from the club members would be greatly appreciated.
North Adelaide Golf Club Golf Australia Pennants - Round 5
Yet another perfect Winters Day greeted Bonnar cup team at the stately Glenelg golf course.
The NAGC Bonnar Cup group took the short drive down to Glenelg to tackle the Thaxted Park team on the challenging Glenelg course.
The line-up for this round was Oscar Moss, Toby Maddern, John Filmalter, Andrew McMillan, Luke Montgomery, Frank Kong and Yung Bok Kim.
The team toiled away on the challenging layout and whilst it was not the result we were hoping for left going down 1 and 6.
Thanks as always to those who gave up their precious time on a Sunday to represent the club, success will come our way eventually.
With 2 matches remaining the elusive W is our goal to achieve before we wrap up another Pennant season.
Next Sunday the Bonnar Cup team will do battle with Royal Adelaide at Kooyonga.
Good luck to our members playing on behalf of the club and any support from the club members would be greatly appreciated.
North Adelaide Golf Club Golf Australia Pennants - Round 4
The calendar indicates that we have kicked off Winter but yet again the weather gods were smiling on us, what a perfect day for a walk in the park following a golf ball.
This week the team suited up at The Grange for Bonnar Cup.
The NAGC Bonnar Cup group were all fired up, channelling the spirits of the recently departed LIV players to take on the mob from The Vines.
This week’s line-up featured the might of Toby Maddern, Andrew McMillan, Oscar Moss, Luke Montgomery, Frank Kong and Steven Draper.
Unfortunately, as hard as our team battled it was a whitewash against NAGC loosing 0 and 7, enough said.
We have a bit of work to do to gain the success our endeavours deserve but opportunity will present itself in the off-season.
Well played to our NAGC members who suited up again on Sunday and flew the flag for the club, many thanks.
The challenge for us is to get off the matt and battle it out to see if we can elevate ourselves off the bottom of the ladders.
We take a break for the Long Weekend then onto round 5, June 16th, where the Bonnar Cup team will take on Thaxted Park at the challenging Glenelg course.
Good luck to all that are competing.
North Adelaide Golf Club Golf Australia Pennants - Round 3
Just another perfect day for a round of golf at Tea Tree Gully, we have been spoilt with the conditions for the first 3 rounds of the Pennant season and last Sunday was just about perfect, just about !!
The NAGC Bonnar Cup group assembled at the well-presented Tea Tree Gully Course to battle it out against the Glenelg team.
The team line up was Oscar Moss, Toby Maddern, Yung Bok Kim, Andrew McMillan, Luke Montgomery, Steven Draper and Ian George.
Glenelg sit on top of the Bonnar Cup ladder and is blessed with a very strong team of extremely low handicappers.
Sad to report that it was a whitewash against NAGC loosing 0 and 7 and a clear insight as to where we need to get to so we can be competitive at this competition level.
Thanks to Steven Draper for stepping up and helping out to fill the void that was left due to player unavailability.
As always thanks to the NAGC members that represented the club and toiled away against a level of competitor that is at a different level to us.
Also, thanks must go to Tea Tree Gully for hosting the North Adelaide teams.
Next round, June 2nd, has the Bonnar Cup team battling it out against The Vines at the picturesque West course at The Grange.
Best of luck to all.
North Adelaide Golf Club Golf Australia Pennants - Round 2
The NAGC Bonnar Cup group assembled at The Vines and took on the might of Tea Tree Gully.
The team line up was Chantha Kong, Simon Welsh, Yung Bok Kim, Toby Maddern, Luke Montgomery, Oscar Moss and Frank Kong.
Five of the games played in this match went right down to the last 2 holes, 3 were decided on the last hole, so with a little luck the outcome could have been could have seen a W in the column for NAGC, sadly that was not to be.
Whilst the result was not what we wanted to come away losing 2 up and 5 losses.
Many thanks to the club members that battled it out against some very strong competition on the weekend and we look forward to the next challenge.
Also, thanks must go to The Vines for hosting the North Adelaide teams.
We look forward to suiting up again next Weekend, Sunday 26th where the Bonnar Cup team will take on Glenelg at Tea Tree Gully.
North Adelaide Golf Club Golf Australia Pennants - Round 1
The NAGC Bonnar Cup team took on The Grange team at Thaxted Park.
The team line up was Chantha Kong, Alex Martinson, Simon Welsh, Yung Bok Kim, Luke Montgomery, Oscar Moss and Frank Kong.
The team battled hard against the Grange folk and so much so that a couple of games could have been over and out much earlier if not for the never say die attitude of some of the team members.
Whilst the result was not what we wanted to come away losing 1 up, 2 squared and 4 losses.
Thanks to the players who suited up for NAGC, we could use some more to be available for selection, please speak to me if you are interested.
Thanks to the clubs for hosting the North Adelaide teams and providing post-match delights.
We all take a break for Mother’s Day and resume play again May 19th, with the Bonnar Cup team taking on Tea Tree Gully at The Vines.
