2023 Bonnar Cup
2023 Men’s Pennants Review
North Adelaide fielded sides in two Men’s pennants competitions this year: A2 and B1 (Bonnar Cup).
Their berth in the A2 competition arose from a late withdrawal, while NAGC backed up in the Bonnar Cup competition having reached the semi-finals last year.
The sides featured the cream of the Division 1 and 2 championship sides which swept all before them only a few weeks prior in the Public Course Pennants competition.
Both came to earth with a thud however, as this standard of competition required their best and then some.
A2
Stepping up to play at this level at relatively short notice would always be a challenge, and so it was.
NAGC finished bottom of the ladder with only one tied match from the 7 played.
Luke Montgomery and John Filmalter with 2 wins each were the best-performed.
B1 Bonnar Cup
Two wins from 7 matches wasn’t good enough this year and North Adelaide had to settle for seventh place on the ladder in the end.
Oscar Moss was the most successful with 3 wins, while A-grade champions, Yungbok Kim and Alex Martinson, earned two wins each.
Big thanks go to Alan Potts, Peter Norman and Murray O’Neill who managed the sides this season, and of course the players who turned out week after week in often-difficult conditions for the honour of their club.
